Norwell Library Ends Sunday Hours Amid Budget Cuts

NORWELL — The Norwell Public Library has eliminated its seasonal Sunday hours as a result of cuts in the town's fiscal 2026 budget, even as the library separately landed a state technology grant worth more than $35,000 to expand its new laptop lending program.

The Norwell Public Library confirmed that budgetary cuts have ended its seasonal Sunday hours, a reduction the library says is tied to the impacts outlined in its FY26 budget materials, which are posted on the library's website for residents who want the full breakdown. The library's current posted hours run Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with no Sunday service.

Separately, the library announced it was awarded a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program, funding that arrives as the library rolls out its new Device Lending Program offering four Dell Pro 14 laptops for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude touchscreen laptops for take-home checkout, a program Townbrief Norwell also covered earlier this month. COMING UP
