Water Superintendent Updates Customers Days After Boil Order Lifted

NORWELL — Norwell water customers received an update from the town's water superintendent Monday, less than 48 hours after officials lifted a boil-water order for affected areas, while separately Town Hall warned residents about a scam targeting people with pending permit applications.

Water Superintendent Jason Federico posted a message to residents Monday, two days after the town lifted its boil-water order Saturday, July 11, according to the town's News Flash feed. The town did not post additional detail on the boil order's cause or the areas affected beyond the two announcements.

Town Hall also issued a warning Monday about a scam targeting people who have permit applications on file with the town. Officials urged anyone contacted about a pending application to verify the request directly with the Building Department before responding.

Norwell Public Library announced a new Device Lending Program, adding four Dell Pro 14 laptops available for use inside the library and seven Dell Latitude touch-screen laptops available for take-home checkout. Residents can call the library or visit the Main Desk to sign up.

The library was also awarded a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program, per its website, though the library did not specify how the funds will be used.

Separately, the library confirmed it will no longer offer seasonal Sunday hours because of budget cuts, a change tied to the library's fiscal 2026 budget.
