Town Clerk's Office to Close Sept. 23-24 as Norwell Seeks Plow Contractors

NORWELL — Norwell's Town Clerk's Office will shut down for two days later this month, and Town Hall is already lining up contractors for the coming winter, according to News Flash announcements posted this week on the town website.

The Town Clerk's Office will be closed Wednesday, Sept. 23, and Thursday, Sept. 24, the town announced Sept. 18. No reason for the closure was specified in the notice.

Separately, the town is seeking qualified plowing contractors for the 2026-2027 snow and ice season, according to a News Flash posted Sept. 16. The solicitation comes as the town's Highway Department begins its seasonal preparations months ahead of the first storm.

SCHOOLS

Norwell Public Schools kicked off the new academic year's communications Sept. 17 with what the district called the first Superintendent's newsletter of the 2026-2027 school year. Superintendent Keegan's monthly newsletter is posted on the district website alongside the newly released 2026-2027 school calendar.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Norwell Public Library has launched a new Device Lending Program, making four Dell Pro 14 laptops available for in-library use and seven Dell Latitude touchscreen laptops available for take-home checkout. Residents can call the library or visit the Main Desk for details.

The library was also awarded a technology grant worth more than $35,000 through a state program, funding that helped make the new laptop program possible. At the same time, the library confirmed it will no longer offer seasonal Sunday hours because of budget cuts, a change it says is detailed in materials on its FY26 budget impacts.
